Used PlayStation Portal Now $50 Off on Amazon: New Price Drop

by Jason May 17,2025

The PlayStation Portal has never been discounted, but now you can snag a used one at a great price. Amazon Resale (formerly known as Amazon Warehouse) is offering a Used: Like New condition PS Portal for just $150.23 shipped. The original retail price for a new unit is $199, so you're looking at a significant 25% savings. While a Sony warranty may not be included, Amazon Resale items come with the same 30-day return policy as new purchases. Given the popularity of this deal, we expect these units to sell out quickly.

Update: The price has dropped further to $150.23, marking the lowest price we've seen for a Used: Like New PS Portal.

The unit looks and functions as if it were new, with only moderate packing damage noted during inspection.

The PS Portal is Sony's innovative handheld gaming accessory designed to complement the PS5 console. It resembles an extended split-pad DualSense controller with an 8-inch 1080p LCD screen integrated in the middle. This device transforms your PS5 into a portable gaming unit, allowing you to stream games from your console at up to 60fps. It retains the advanced features of the DualSense, such as haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchscreen interface that substitutes for the DualSense's touchpad. The PS Portal can stream games even when you're away from home, provided you have a stable and fast internet connection. However, remember that the PS Portal is not a standalone device; it requires a PS5 to operate.

Update: You no longer need a PS5 to play games on the PS Portal. Sony has now enabled the PS Portal to stream games directly from its PlayStation Now cloud streaming service. This feature allows Portal owners to connect either to their PS5 or directly to Sony’s cloud servers, granting access to over 120 games, including titles like Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. To take advantage of this, you must subscribe to the highest tier of PlayStation Plus, priced at $18 a month, which is a more cost-effective option than buying a $500 PS5 and additional games.

It's worth noting that the PlayStation Portal isn’t the only way to stream PS5 games over Wi-Fi within your home. You can achieve similar functionality by downloading the PS Remote Play app on a mobile device or other gaming handhelds like the Steam Deck. However, setup can be more complex, and you may miss out on some of the DualSense's unique features.

PlayStation Portal Review by Seth Macy

"The PlayStation Portal is a surprising device that I ended up loving despite initial skepticism. It offers a far superior experience compared to using a phone with a clip-on controller and works much better than I expected. The freedom to play my PS5 from anywhere with decent WiFi coverage is fantastic, especially when competing for TV time with family members playing the Switch. While it's not a standalone device and absolutely requires a PS5 to function, the Portal's limitations include its inability to connect to WiFi networks that require a web browser for login and its lack of Bluetooth support for audio. Despite these caveats, it's a great device for PlayStation Remote Play and a must-own for PS5 owners who enjoy handheld gaming or need to share the household TV."
