The Pokémon Company has announced that the Pokémon Fossil Museum will make its North American debut in May 2026.
For those unfamiliar with this unique exhibition, it does exactly what its name suggests. Following its successful Japanese run, this special display juxtaposes fabricated Pokémon "fossils" with real ancient fossils, and will premiere at Chicago's Field Museum on May 22, 2026—marking its first international appearance.
"Visitors will encounter vivid Pokémon replicas displayed alongside actual prehistoric specimens from our collection," the museum stated. "Compare scientific reconstructions like SUE the T. rex and Chicago's Archaeopteryx with Fossil Pokémon such as Tyrantrum and Archeops. Trainers, how many differences—and surprising similarities—will you discover?"
