Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge at its May Unpacked event, introducing a sleek new addition to its flagship lineup. While the Galaxy S25 Edge shares many similarities with the earlier released Galaxy S25, its standout feature is its impressively thin design, which truly gives it an edge.
When comparing specs, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge closely mirrors the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Both models are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and boast a high-resolution 200MP camera. The key difference lies in the chassis: the Galaxy S25 Edge is remarkably thinner at just 5.8mm compared to the 8.2mm thickness of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This slim design also makes the phone lighter, tipping the scales at only 163g.
The Galaxy S25 Edge features the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display as the standard Galaxy S25, even though it shares most specifications with the slightly larger 6.9-inch Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Given its slim and large form factor, durability is a significant concern. Samsung addresses this with the new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which is touted to be more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, the real test will be how well it withstands daily wear and tear, especially when subjected to the pressures of being sat on in a pocket. This raises questions about whether it can avoid a potential "bendgate" scenario.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge also comes equipped with the same "Mobile AI" suite of tools that were introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S24 and further refined in 2025. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset enables significant AI processing to be done locally on the device, enhancing privacy. However, many AI applications still rely on cloud services. Samsung offers unique features such as notification and news article summarization, which can be handy for quick glances.
Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge are now open, starting at $1,099 for the 256GB model and $1,219 for the 512GB model. The phone is available in three color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.
Samsung is confident that this slim phone is also highly durable. Let's hope they are correct.
