Silent Hill f debuted at Gamescom Opening Night Live tonight with a fresh trailer, introducing English actor Suzie Yeung as the protagonist Hinako.
The new trailer begins with Hinako awakening in a dark room, appearing disoriented. As she explores, she finds herself in a shrine and follows a figure with a blue lamp deeper inside. She is then attacked by the eerie dolls seen in earlier trailers, with glimpses of other unsettling rooms within the shrine.
The trailer then shifts to an old house on a rainy day, which Hinako seems to recognize as her home. She appears with torn, bloody clothing as a chilling woman's voice commands her to kill everyone, leading to a confrontation with one of her classmates. Overall, while less graphic than the previous trailer, it remains deeply unnerving.
Set in 1960s Japan, Silent Hill f features a story by Ryukishi07 that contrasts beauty and horror. Announced in 2022, it is a standalone entry and Japan's first M-rated Silent Hill game, accompanied by explicit content warnings. It is also expected to emphasize combat, with series producer Motoi Okamoto stating, "Challenging action games are gaining popularity among younger players, so incorporating such elements should resonate even with newcomers to the series."
Silent Hill f launches on September 25 this year for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. After a five-hour hands-on session earlier this month, our preview is available here.
