Hollow Knight: Silksong Playable Version
Featured at Game Worlds Exhibition in Australia
Hollow Knight: Silksong remains one of gaming's most eagerly awaited releases, with fans anxiously anticipating any opportunity to experience it. This extended wait may soon end as the National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI) in Australia will host a playable version. This new iteration promises to differ significantly from the 2019 E3 demo, which many considered more of a technical proof-of-concept than a fully realized preview.
The museum will present its Game Worlds exhibition from September 18, 2025 through February 8, 2026. Alongside Silksong, the event will showcase prominent titles like World of Warcraft and The Sims, featuring exclusive customized builds alongside original design materials, concept art, and memorable game artifacts.
ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell told IGN: "Since its 2019 announcement, Hollow Knight: Silksong has captivated the indie gaming community worldwide. We're honored to highlight this South Australian-developed masterpiece as a centerpiece of our Game Worlds exhibition this September."
Following its initial announcement, information about Silksong has been remarkably scarce, fueling intense speculation among fans. The ACMI exhibition aims to satisfy this curiosity by offering unprecedented insights into the game's development.
The curators elaborated: "Visitors will explore hundreds of animated sprites for Hornet's combat maneuvers, discover the design philosophy behind the game's most demanding boss encounters, and naturally, experience hands-on gameplay – our Silksong exhibit provides unparalleled access to the game's artistic vision and technical execution."
While the exhibition's timing might suggest a potential release window, developers haven't confirmed specific launch dates. The game's recent appearance during the Switch 2 Direct reinforced its 2025 release timeframe. With the exhibition concluding in 2026, hopeful players speculate the game might launch this September or during the exhibition period.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. For continuing coverage and updates about the game, explore our related articles below.
