The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we mean Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park has just announced the much-anticipated return for Season 27, and it appears our beloved Colorado crew is tackling the state of things in their signature, barely-coping style.
The adored animated series cleverly tricked fans with its new trailer for the upcoming season. Initially, it appeared to be a dramatic sneak peek into a new drama series, complete with intense editing and ominous music. The suspense was palpable until Stan’s dad, Randy, and his sister Shelley appeared on-screen. In a classic South Park twist, Randy asks Shelley if she's been taking drugs, suggesting it could help her, all while sitting on her bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background.
South Park Season 27 is set to premiere on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025. After the initial gag, the trailer shifts back to showcasing intense action, hinting at several significant and timely events. These include multiple plane crashes, the toppling of the Statue of Liberty, a P. Diddy appearance, and an anticipated war with Canada—a nod to fans familiar with the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut.
The teaser confirms that Season 27 will air on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. In the interim, the series has released three specials: 2023's South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024's South Park: The End of Obesity.
South Park, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, first premiered on Comedy Central in 1997 to near-instant acclaim.
