Stardew Valley offers more than just farming; players strive for profit, and gemstones are valuable assets beyond their aesthetic appeal. They're useful in crafting and make excellent gifts. However, constantly mining for rare gemstones is inefficient. This is where the Crystalarium shines. This remarkable device allows players to multiply gemstones and minerals. This guide explains how to obtain and utilize this valuable tool, updated for the 1.6 update.
Obtaining a Crystalarium
To craft a Crystalarium, players need Level 9 Mining skill. The required materials are:
- 99 Stone: Easily found by breaking rocks on the farm or in the Mines.
- 5 Gold Bars: Smelt Gold Ore (found at mine levels 80 and below) using Coal in a Furnace.
- 2 Iridium Bars: Mine Iridium in Skull Cavern or obtain it daily from the Statue of Perfection (then smelt in a Furnace).
- 1 Battery Pack: Obtained by placing a Lightning Rod outside during a thunderstorm.
Alternative Acquisition Methods:
- Community Center Bundle: Complete the 25,000g bundle in the Vault.
- Museum Donation: Donate at least 50 minerals (gemstones or geodes) to Gunther's museum.
Using the Crystalarium
Place the Crystalarium anywhere – indoors or outdoors. The Quarry is a popular location for mass production. It replicates any mineral or gemstone (except Prismatic Shards).
Production Times and Profitability:
Quartz has the shortest production time but low value. Diamonds, while taking 5 days, offer the highest profit margin.
Moving and Changing Gems:
To move a Crystalarium, hit it with an axe or pickaxe. The current gem will drop if the machine is active. To change the gem being replicated, simply interact with the Crystalarium while holding the desired gemstone. The existing gem will be ejected, and the new one will begin replicating.
