Tony Hawk Eyes Remake of Underground Game

by Noah May 26,2025

If you've been yearning for a return to Tony Hawk's Underground, you're in good company — Tony Hawk himself is actively "campaigning" for its remake.

"I always have aspirations," Hawk shared with ScreenRant. "It's not up to me generally. I'll campaign all I can, but I'm working with a much bigger company that's a lot smarter than me."

When pressed about what might be on the horizon after the release of Pro Skate 3 + 4, Hawk remained tight-lipped, stating, "We haven't even released this game yet!"

Tony Hawk's Underground originally hit the scene in 2003, earning a stellar 9.2 review score from us at the time. We praised its "virtually flawless" level design and "stellar gameplay." A groundbreaking feature was the ability to dismount your board and explore the expansive levels on foot, a first for the series.

Play*Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4* is slated for release on *Nintendo Switch 2*, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, and Xbox One on July 11, 2025. Activision is curating the official THPS 3 + 4 playlist on Spotify, regularly updating it as more songs are unveiled — *check out the latest updates in our full soundtrack list here*.

"In an era where it seems like every game from the early 2000s is getting a modern facelift, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 is shaping up to be a welcome addition to a year full of excellent remakes and remasters," we noted in our IGN's Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 first impressions preview.

"From its faithful recreation of what made the PS2-era classics so memorable, to its modern quality of life improvements, excellent soundtrack, and overall love letter to the series' early days, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 is definitely something that should be on your radar if you’re a fan of skateboarding, enjoy action sports games, or just want to play something that's simple and fun. It might just be the easiest kickflip you’ll land this year."
