The realm of video game movie adaptations is notorious for its share of disappointments. Classics like the 1993 Super Mario Bros. and 1997's Mortal Kombat: Annihilation have become infamous for their abysmal quality and failure to capture the essence of their beloved source material. However, there's hope on the horizon as recent adaptations like the Sonic the Hedgehog series and The Super Mario Bros. Movie have shown significant improvement in how these games can be successfully brought to the big screen. Yet, not all attempts have been successful, as evidenced by the disappointing Borderlands adaptation.

Hollywood's persistence in adapting video games into movies is commendable, and while the bar has been set pretty low by some past efforts, it's challenging to produce something worse than the following notorious flops:
