Akatsuki Games has made the surprising announcement of the end-of-service (EOS) for their latest game, Tribe Nine. Launched just a few months ago in February on Android, iOS, and PC via Steam, it's shocking to see the game's life cut so short. Let's dive into the reasons behind this unexpected shutdown.
When Is the Tribe Nine EOS?
Tribe Nine is set to officially shut down on November 27th, 2025. Alongside this disheartening news, Akatsuki Games has confirmed that Chapter 4 of the main story will not see the light of day. This is especially disappointing as the game had just begun to tease significant plot developments. As of May 15th, all future updates, new features, bug fixes, and content releases have been canceled. The anticipated adjustments and new features previously announced in-game are now off the table.
Additionally, two characters, Ichinosuke Akiba and Saizo Akiba, who were set to join the roster, will no longer be added. Refunds will be issued for Paid Enigma Entities used on items such as Armed Support, Advanced Support, and the Support Contract – Revenio, once the Revenio contract expires.
Purchases of Enigma Entities and Daily Passes have been halted across both the app and web store. However, players can continue to use their existing Enigma Entities until the official shutdown of Tribe Nine.
Why Did It Fail So Soon?
Tribe Nine is a free-to-play extreme action RPG known for its distinctive style and rich worldbuilding. Despite its quality, the game faced challenges from the outset. The release schedule was notably slow, with only one story chapter and one event rolled out over three months. Moreover, the game's monetization strategy didn't encourage spending; players could assemble a competitive team with just one pull and didn't require duplicates, which was beneficial for players but not for the developers' revenue.
The decision to implement a gacha system appears to have been a risky move for Tribe Nine, and unfortunately, it didn't yield the desired results. Despite its impending closure, the game remains playable until November 27th, so if you haven't tried it yet, you can still experience it on the Google Play Store.
