Wuthering Waves: How to Unlock Nightmare Tempest Mephis

Nightmare Tempest Mephis could be an excellent replacement for the main 4-slot Echo of Electro characters in Wuthering Waves. Not only does it provide additional stats, but it can also potentially make certain damage rotations much stronger compared to its regular counterpart (plus, it's shinier than usual).

All Nightmare Echoes in Wuthering Waves provide similar bonuses, but while most are easy to reach, Nightmare Tempest Mephis is locked behind a few subtle steps. Here's what you need to do to unlock this boss.

Where to Find Nightmare Tempest Mephis in Wuthering Waves

This formidable boss awaits in the expansive, circular arena located in the Shores of Last Breath within the Fagaceae Peninsula. However, before you can challenge Nightmare Tempest Mephis, you'll need to complete a couple of prerequisites.

First, embark on and complete the "Where Winds Return to Celestial Realms" quest in Wuthering Waves. This exploration quest unfolds in the Shores of Last Breath and is primarily combat-focused. While you can complete it in one go, it will take some time. Completing this quest is crucial as it unlocks the path to Nightmare Tempest Mephis' arena.

Secondly, you must locate all the Dream Patrols scattered throughout the Shores of Last Breath. Simply discovering them and marking them on your map is sufficient; you don't need to complete the patrols. Once you've found all of them, a notification will inform you that Nightmare Tempest Mephis has appeared, allowing you to confront it at the location shown in the image above.

Should You Use Nightmare Tempest Mephis?

Whether you should use Nightmare Tempest Mephis depends on the stats you receive from your Echo drops and the specific Wuthering Waves character you're building. When equipped in the main Echo slot, Nightmare Tempest Mephis grants a bonus to Electro DMG and can be part of either the Void Thunder or Empyrean Anthem Sonata sets. The Void Thunder set is generally beneficial for all Electro damage dealers, whereas the Empyrean Anthem set is more suited for characters capable of Coordinated Attacks, such as Yinlin and Yuanwu.

Moreover, Nightmare Tempest Mephis' transformation attack differs from its regular version, potentially enhancing certain rotations for specific characters or teams. Combined with the passive Electro DMG bonus, Nightmare Echoes are definitely worth considering for most characters.

However, it's essential to prioritize Echoes with superior stats. If your Nightmare Tempest Mephis has inferior stats compared to a regular one, you might achieve better overall performance by opting for the standard variant.
