As someone who transitioned from Xbox to PC gaming, I've always relied on Steam sales to keep my game library fresh. Game Pass never seemed compelling enough—until now. The unexpected release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered by Bethesda and Virtuos directly onto Game Pass, combined with the upcoming launch of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 from Sandfall Interactive, has finally convinced me of its value.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Both Hit Game Pass This Week

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was unveiled and released on April 22 across PC, consoles, and Game Pass. I, like many others, spent the day downloading it and the night immersed in its enchanting music. This near-remake boasts new character models, enhanced combat interactions, and upgraded visual effects. Virtuos also added over five new voice actors while preserving the original's quirky dialogue. The base edition of the remaster is priced at $49.99, which includes the original DLCs, while the deluxe edition costs an additional $10.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the eagerly anticipated debut from French studio Sandfall Interactive, is set to launch at 12am PST tonight in the U.S. It has already garnered a 92 rating on Metacritic, with IGN's 9/10 review lauding its story design and calling it "a true modern throwback." The game's UI evokes the Persona series, and its turn-based combat system is one of the most innovative I've seen. The base edition of Expedition 33 is priced at $49.99, matching the Bethesda remaster.
Although Expedition 33 was initially the highlight of April's Game Pass lineup, the surprise drop of Oblivion Remastered has cast a shadow over the indie game's debut. However, I see it as a win-win situation—two exceptional games for the price of a single Game Pass Ultimate subscription, which cost me $20 instead of $100 for both games separately. Now, the only question is when I'll find time to step away from my screen.
Game Pass has recently expanded to include more of 2025's biggest titles, such as Blue Prince, South of Midnight, and Avowed, alongside classics like GTA V and the entire Call of Duty series. Truly, there's something for everyone on this platform.
Game Pass Is a Ridiculously Good Deal Right Now
Game Pass Ultimate, priced at $19.99/month, offers access to the entire Game Pass library across console, PC, and cloud gaming. The PC-only Game Pass is more affordable at $9.99/month, while the Standard and Core tiers are $14.99/month and $9.99/month, respectively, but they don't include day-one releases. The last price increase for Game Pass occurred in July 2024, and with these high-profile game launches, further hikes seem likely.
Currently, there are no active Game Pass deals, but purchasing a three-month subscription could protect you from future price increases.
