Xenoblade Chronicles Devs Recruiting Staff for ‘New RPG’

Xenoblade Chronicles' developers are recruiting staff for an upcoming RPG. Read on to learn more about Monolith Soft CCO Tetsuya Takahashi’s message and what came about the game they were recruiting for seven years ago.

Monolith Soft is Hiring for an Ambitious Open-World ProjectTetsuya Takahashi Seeks Talents for ‘New RPG’

Monolith Soft, the acclaimed studio behind the Xenoblade Chronicles series, has announced plans to develop a "new RPG". In a message posted on their official website, series General Director Tetsuya Takahashi revealed that the studio is actively recruiting staff to join the project.

In his message, Takahashi acknowledged that the gaming industry is evolving, necessitating a shift in development strategies for Monolith Soft. To address the complexities of creating an open-world title, where elements like characters, quests, and story are intricately connected, the studio aims to build a more efficient production environment.

The new RPG, according to Takahashi, presents significant challenges compared to previous Monolith Soft titles. The increased complexity of the content requires a larger team of talented individuals. To meet this demand, the studio is hiring for eight roles, spanning from asset creation to leadership positions.

While it is important that these individuals possess the ability to do their role well, Takahashi emphasized the players’ enjoyment of their games is the driving force behind Monolith Soft. Thus, they are looking for people who share the same sentiment.

Fans Wonder What Happened to the 2017 Action Game

This is not the first time Monolith Soft has recruited for a new project. In 2017, Monolith Soft sought talent for an ambitious action game that would depart from their usual mold. Concept art showcased a knight and a dog in a fantastical setting, but the project received no further updates.

Monolith Soft has a history of creating expansive, boundary-pushing games. The Xenoblade Chronicles series is a prime example, often utilizing the full potential of the hardware. The studio’s involvement in the development of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild further solidifies their reputation for ambitious projects.

It is not clear whether or not the "new RPG" is the same game as what was announced in 2017. However, it is worth noting that the original recruitment page for it has since been taken down from the studio’s website. This does not necessarily mean that the game was canceled. Perhaps it could have been shelved to be worked on at a later time.
