Metaphor enthusiasts have a new delight to savor: the debut chapter of the official Metaphor: ReFantazio manga is now accessible on MANGA Plus' website, completely free of charge. Atlus has teamed up with manga powerhouse Shueisha to bring this adaptation to life, with the talented Japanese manga artist Yōichi Amano (known for works like Akaboshi: Ibun Suikoden and Stealth Symphony) at the helm.
While the manga sticks to the essence of the video game's narrative, it embarks on a creative journey by altering the initial timeline. Key changes in the first chapter include the omission of a specific opening area, the introduction of new events absent from the game, and a reshuffling of existing ones, including how the protagonist, now officially named Will, meets his allies.

Metaphor: ReFantazio, Atlus' latest intellectual property, is crafted by Studio Zero under the guidance of Katsura Hashino, the visionary behind Persona 3, 4, and 5. The game narrates the adventures of protagonist Will and his fairy companion Gallica, as they embark on a quest to rescue the prince of the United Kingdom of Euchronia from a cursed fate.
Amidst their journey, the kingdom plunges into turmoil following the assassination of the king, leaving it leaderless. In his final act, the king decrees that the next ruler be chosen by the people, thrusting Will into a sweeping saga far beyond his wildest dreams.
On its launch day, Metaphor: ReFantazio shattered records by selling over one million copies globally, surpassing Atlus' previous hit, Persona 3: Reload, released earlier in 2024.
