Elliot Page to Reimagine Quantic Dream's Beyond: Two Souls as a TV Series

Elliot Page, the original star of Quantic Dream's Beyond: Two Souls, is spearheading a television adaptation of the acclaimed PlayStation adventure game. Page's production company, Pageboy Productions, has secured the rights from Quantic Dream, according to Deadline. The project, currently in early development, aims to retain the game's distinctive non-linear narrative structure. Further details regarding casting and release dates remain undisclosed.

Page expressed to Deadline that filming the game was a profoundly impactful experience, stating, "The story's rich narrative and emotional depth offer us a fantastic foundation. We want to create a unique vision of the characters and their journeys that resonates with fans and newcomers."

Matt Jordan Smitt, head of development and production at Pageboy, emphasized the team's commitment to both honoring the game's legacy and introducing fresh perspectives. He highlighted the central themes of survival and the profound impact of crucial decisions as key elements of the narrative.

Originally released in 2013 for PlayStation 3, Beyond: Two Souls later arrived on PlayStation 4 (2015) and PC (2019). Directed and written by David Cage, the game follows Jodie Holmes, a young woman with psychic abilities and her connection to a spirit named Aiden. The game's nonlinear storyline, exploring various stages of Jodie's life, and its star-studded cast, including Page and Willem Dafoe, were notable aspects of the original release.

David Cage confirmed his collaboration with Page on the TV series, although the specifics of his involvement remain unannounced. Cage expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting Page's exceptional performance in the game and his belief in Page's ability to translate the story's emotional impact to a new medium. He stated, “Beyond: Two Souls is a very special game for millions of players around the world who were moved by the story of Jodie and Aiden, and their journey in life and beyond. I know that Elliot has all the talent and instinct to make it something really unique on TV.”

While a premiere date for the Beyond: Two Souls TV series remains some time away, IGN's original review of the game can be found here, along with all of our Quantic Dream game reviews here.
