Beloved Square Enix RPG Revives on Nintendo Switch

Triangle Strategy Returns to Nintendo Switch eShop

RPG enthusiasts can celebrate! Triangle Strategy, the acclaimed Square Enix title, is back on the Nintendo Switch eShop after a temporary removal. This follows a recent transfer of publishing rights from Nintendo to Square Enix, a move that may explain the brief delisting.

The return of Triangle Strategy allows Switch owners to once again purchase and download this popular tactical RPG. Known for its classic turn-based combat reminiscent of Fire Emblem, Triangle Strategy quickly gained recognition upon its initial release. Its strategic gameplay, focusing on unit placement and maximizing damage, resonated with fans of the genre.

Square Enix's announcement on Twitter confirmed the game's return to the eShop after a four-day absence. While the reason for the initial delisting remains unconfirmed, the recent shift in publishing rights is a likely contributing factor. This isn't the first time a Square Enix title has experienced a temporary removal from the eShop; Octopath Traveler faced a similar situation last year, though its absence lasted considerably longer.

This swift resolution is positive news for Nintendo Switch players and highlights the ongoing collaboration between Square Enix and Nintendo. This partnership has a rich history, evident in past releases like the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series (initially a Switch exclusive) and the continued trend of Square Enix releasing console-exclusive titles on the Nintendo platform, dating back to the original Final Fantasy on the NES. This tradition continues with titles like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (currently PlayStation 5 exclusive) and Dragon Quest XI (initially a Switch exclusive). The reappearance of Triangle Strategy underscores the strength of this enduring relationship.
