Marvel Rivals Punishes Players with FPS Issues

A Reddit user uncovered a game-breaking bug in Marvel Rivals that disproportionately affects players with less powerful PCs. Low FPS (frames per second) causes several heroes to move slower and inflict less damage, effectively turning the game into a "pay-to-win" scenario where the cost of entry is better PC hardware, not in-game purchases.

This is clearly a bug, not an intended game mechanic. However, a swift fix isn't likely. The problem stems from the Delta Time parameter – a crucial element in game design that ensures consistent gameplay regardless of frame rate. Addressing this complex issue will require significant developer time and effort.

The following heroes are currently confirmed to be affected:

  • Doctor Strange
  • Wolverine
  • Venom
  • Magik
  • Star-Lord

These characters exhibit reduced movement speed, lower jump heights, and diminished damage output. Other heroes may also be impacted. Until a patch is released, players are advised to optimize their FPS, even if it means compromising graphical settings.
