Last of Us 3: Still a Possibility?

by Skylar Mar 13,2025

Fans of The Last of Us were recently dealt a blow by Neil Druckmann's seemingly definitive statement that a new game wasn't in the works. However, a flicker of hope ignited with insider Daniel Richtman's claim that not only is a sequel in development, but casting is complete and some scenes have already been filmed.

Considering Druckmann's previous ambiguous statements, this rumor isn't entirely implausible. His "no next The Last of Us" comment might have referred to a sequel already underway. Furthermore, he's employed similar tactics before, preceding the announcement of Part II. However, it's worth noting that Richtman has a history of inaccurate leaks.

Nevertheless, the existence of at least a concept for a new installment is confirmed. Any official announcements, however, might be delayed to avoid overshadowing Naughty Dog's upcoming new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
