Avex Pictures has exciting news for fans of the "Made in Abyss" universe. They've announced the development of a new mobile game titled "Made in Abyss: A Difficult and Mysterious Journey." This marks the first time the captivating story will be brought to mobile platforms, expanding the franchise's reach after its successful run in manga, anime, and a 3D action RPG.
Details on the game are still under wraps, but we know it's set to be a casual mobile title, available on Android and iOS devices. At the moment, it's slated for release only in Japan, with no information yet on a potential global rollout. Fans can stay updated through the game's newly launched official X account, where further announcements are expected as the release date approaches.
Dived into the Abyss Yet?
For those new to the series, "Made in Abyss" originated as a manga in 2012, crafted by Akihito Tsukushi and serialized on Web Comic Gamma. The story centers on Riko, an orphan from the town of Orth, perched on the edge of the enigmatic Abyss—a vast vertical hole teeming with ancient technology, bizarre creatures, and untold secrets that consume those who dare to explore its depths.
Riko's ambition is to emulate her mother, Lyza, a renowned White Whistle Cave Raider who vanished within the Abyss. Her journey takes a pivotal turn when she encounters Reg, a mysterious half-robot boy with amnesia. Together, they embark on a perilous descent into the unknown, fully aware that the path they tread might be one-way.
The "Made in Abyss" saga has since expanded into an anime series in 2017, followed by a sequel film, "Dawn of the Deep Soul," released in Japan in 2020. In 2022, Chime Corporation further enriched the franchise with a console and PC RPG, "Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness."
