Avatar: Seven Havens Officially Announced, Set After the Events of The Legend of Korra

Exciting news for fans of the Avatar universe: Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have officially announced a new animated series titled Avatar: Seven Havens. This announcement comes as part of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the iconic series, Avatar: The Last Airbender. The creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, are at the helm of this new project, which promises to expand the rich world they initially crafted.

Avatar: Seven Havens will be a 26-episode, 2D animated series, introducing viewers to a young Earthbender who steps into the role of the next Avatar after Korra. Set in a world fractured by a cataclysmic event, the series follows this new Avatar, who is perceived as a harbinger of destruction rather than a savior. As she navigates a perilous landscape, she must evade human and spirit adversaries alongside her long-lost twin. Their journey will lead them to uncover their enigmatic origins and strive to protect the Seven Havens, the last bastions of civilization.

In their statement, Konietzko and DiMartino expressed their enthusiasm for continuing to build the Avatarverse, stating, "When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters."

Avatar: Seven Havens will be divided into two seasons, each with 13 episodes, forming Book 1 and Book 2. The series is co-created by DiMartino and Konietzko, with Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi serving as executive producers. While the cast has yet to be announced, anticipation is high for this new addition to the Avatar saga.

This marks the first mainline TV series to be produced by Avatar Studios, which is also working on a feature-length animated movie centered on adult Aang. Scheduled for a theatrical release on January 30, 2026, the film will take audiences on a fresh adventure with the beloved character.

In addition to the new series and movie, Avatar Studios is celebrating the 20th anniversary with a variety of releases including new books, comics, concerts, toys, and a game on Roblox, ensuring fans have plenty to look forward to as they delve deeper into the expansive Avatar universe.
