BREAKING: Sony Unveils New AAA PlayStation Studio

Sony's Unveiled Los Angeles PlayStation Studio Fuels AAA Speculation

A newly established PlayStation studio in Los Angeles, California, is generating significant buzz within the gaming community. Confirmed via a recent job posting, this 20th addition to PlayStation's first-party lineup is developing a high-profile, original AAA title for the PS5.

The secrecy surrounding the studio has sparked considerable speculation. Two prominent theories are circulating: the studio may house a spin-off team from Bungie, following the July 2024 layoffs which saw 155 Bungie employees transition to Sony Interactive Entertainment. Alternatively, it could be the team led by Jason Blundell, a veteran Call of Duty developer and former co-founder of Deviation Games.

Deviation Games, shuttered in March 2024, was working on a PS5 AAA title before its closure. Interestingly, many former Deviation Games employees joined PlayStation in May 2024, under Blundell's leadership, suggesting a potential continuation or reimagining of their previous project. Given the longer gestation period of Blundell's team, this theory holds significant weight.

While details remain scarce, the confirmation of a new, unannounced AAA title from a PlayStation first-party studio is exciting news for fans. The studio's identity and the nature of its project remain shrouded in mystery, promising a potentially lengthy wait for official announcements. However, the knowledge that another PlayStation first-party game is underway is a welcome development.
