Street Fighter 6's Latest Battle Pass Sparks Outrage Over Lack of Character Costumes

Street Fighter 6 players are expressing significant dissatisfaction with the recently unveiled "Boot Camp Bonanza" battle pass. While the pass offers various customization options like avatars and stickers, the absence of new character costumes has ignited a firestorm of criticism across social media platforms like YouTube and Twitter. Many players question the prioritization of less desirable cosmetic items over highly sought-after character costumes, suggesting the latter would likely generate greater revenue.

The negative reaction underscores ongoing concerns regarding Street Fighter 6's DLC and premium content strategy. While the game launched to critical acclaim in Summer 2023, praised for its refined combat and new characters, its live-service model and infrequent costume releases have alienated a segment of the fanbase. The last significant costume drop was the Outfit 3 pack in December 2023, leaving players feeling neglected compared to the more frequent costume updates seen in Street Fighter 5.

The community's frustration is palpable, with comments like, "Who is buying this much avatar stuff?" and "Making actual character skins would be more profitable, right?" highlighting the perceived disconnect between developer Capcom's approach and player expectations. Some players even stated they'd prefer no battle pass at all to the current offering.

The long wait for new costumes, coupled with the perceived lack of value in the current battle pass, has fueled the controversy. While the core gameplay, including the innovative Drive mechanic, continues to attract players, the handling of post-launch content is clearly a point of contention. This ongoing issue casts a shadow over what was otherwise a successful franchise relaunch, raising questions about Capcom's long-term strategy for Street Fighter 6's live-service model heading into 2025.
