Special Room and More Exclusively for Switch 2
Exciting news for Deltarune fans came from the latest Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2. The upcoming Switch 2 version will not only include chapters 3 and 4 but also introduce exclusive features tailored for the next-generation console.
In a Fangamer newsletter, Deltarune's creator, Toby Fox, revealed a unique "SPECIAL ROOM" designed to utilize the mouse functionality of the new Joy-Cons. Fox shared, "So, we made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE, only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!!"
For those without a Switch 2, fear not; the special room will still be accessible, albeit with a different control scheme. Additionally, players can seamlessly import their save files from the Nintendo Switch demo of Deltarune 1 and 2 into the new version.
Deltarune Future Chapters Will Be Free
Toby Fox also shared in the newsletter that Deltarune will be priced at $24.99. This price includes Chapters 1 and 2, along with the newly released Chapters 3 and 4. While Chapter 1 debuted in 2018 and Chapter 2 in 2021—both free—future chapters (3-5) were initially planned as paid content.
However, in a delightful turn of events, Fox announced that all upcoming chapters will be available as free updates. This means that a one-time purchase of the game will unlock all future chapters at no extra cost. Fox expressed his hope, stating, "But, it's my hope that as we complete more Chapters, you'll feel like this game was a super super super super good deal."
The game's soundtrack will also be available on Steam for $14.99, featuring over 150 songs from Chapters 3 and 4. Moreover, songs from future chapters will be added at no additional cost, ensuring that fans get incredible value for their money.
Deltarune Chapters 1-4 are scheduled for release on June 5, 2025, coinciding with the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2.
