Like a Dragon: Demo for Hawaii Pirate Yakuza Now Live

by Audrey Feb 18,2025

A free demo for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth's spin-off, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, launches today! Available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam at 7 AM Pacific Time (10 AM Eastern / 3 PM UK), this demo offers a taste of the full game's action.

The demo, however, doesn't appear to carry over progress to the full game, releasing February 21st on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (without a demo). It allows players to jump ahead, exploring portions of Honolulu and Madlantis, areas normally inaccessible early in the main game.

Key features of the demo include:

  • Freeroam exploration of Honolulu and Madlantis.
  • Access to Mad Dog and Sea Dog fighting styles.
  • Battles against powerful bounty enemies.
  • Four ship and deck battles in the Pirates' Coliseum.
  • New customization options.
  • Karaoke with three selectable songs.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii follows Goro Majima's amnesiac pirate adventure. The October Xbox Partner Showcase trailer showcased ship combat reminiscent of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and the return of Taiga Saejima, hinting at stronger connections to the main series. Estimated playtime for the full game is 15-18 hours, significantly longer than Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. Players can unlock a Kiryu Kazuma costume by subscribing to email notifications or a Sega rewards program.
