Fortnite's Latest Update: A Blast from the Past and Festive Cheer

Fortnite's newest update delivers a nostalgic treat for fans, reintroducing beloved items like the Hunting Rifle and Launch Pad. This follows a recent hotfix for the OG mode, which also brings back the classic Cluster Clinger. The excitement doesn't stop there, as the annual Winterfest event is in full swing, complete with quests, festive items such as Icy Feet and Blizzard Grenade, and exciting new skins featuring Mariah Carey and others.

December is proving to be a packed month for Fortnite. Beyond the Winterfest festivities, which blanket the island in snow and offer rewards from the Cozy Cabin, the game boasts collaborations with Cyberpunk 2077, Batman Ninja, and more. But the holiday cheer isn't the only highlight; the OG mode receives a significant update as well.

A recent hotfix for Fortnite, while seemingly minor, is a major win for veteran players. The OG mode welcomes back the Launch Pad, a Chapter 1, Season 1 staple. This iconic traversal tool, predating current vehicles and mobility options, allows players to strategically launch themselves into the air for surprise attacks or swift escapes.

Fortnite's Revival of Classic Weapons and Items

  • Launch Pad
  • Hunting Rifle
  • Cluster Clinger

The Launch Pad isn't the only returning favorite. The Hunting Rifle (originally from Chapter 3) makes a comeback, providing long-range combat options, particularly welcome given the absence of sniper rifles in Chapter 6, Season 1. Chapter 5's Cluster Clingers also reappear, available in both Battle Royale and Zero Build modes, mirroring the Hunting Rifle's availability.

The success of Fortnite OG is undeniable. Epic Games reported 1.1 million players within the first two hours of its launch. To complement the mode, an OG Item Shop was introduced, offering classic skins and items for purchase. However, the reintroduction of ultra-rare skins like the Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper has sparked mixed reactions among the community.
