Godzilla Supports Wildfire Relief

by Aria Feb 18,2025

IDW Publishing and Toho's "Godzilla vs. America" series continues its monstrous rampage with Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, hitting shelves April 30, 2025. This standalone special features four distinct tales of Godzilla's destructive encounter with the City of Angels. The creative team boasts a stellar lineup including Gabriel Hardman, J. Gonzo, Dave Baker, and Nicole Goux.

Acknowledging the sensitive timing given recent devastating wildfires in the Los Angeles area, IDW has pledged to donate all proceeds from the sale of Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1 to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation (Binc), supporting bookstores and comic shops impacted by the fires. The publisher issued a statement emphasizing their commitment to community support and clarifying that the comic's theme, while coincidentally mirroring current events, is intended as a broader exploration of humanity's response to catastrophic events. The story itself, according to associate editor Nicolas Niño, celebrates the resilience of Angelenos, depicting them uniting against the ultimate challenge: Godzilla. The comic features Godzilla battling giant lowrider mechs, destroying theme parks, and even includes a humorous depiction of the LA subway system.

The final order cutoff for Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1 is March 24, 2025. For further updates on upcoming comics, explore previews for Marvel and DC releases in 2025.
