Leslie Benzies, former lead game designer for Rockstar hits like Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption, unveils a fresh look at his upcoming title, MindsEye, during the PlayStation State of Play showcase.
A newly released trailer offers a glimpse into this high-octane spy thriller, drawing noticeable parallels to the Grand Theft Auto franchise. Expect thrilling third-person gunfights, stunning cinematic sequences, and intense drive-by shootouts. View the cinematic trailer below.
Official press materials reveal that MindsEye centers around Jacob Diaz, a character equipped with a neural implant—the titular MindsEye—which has severely impacted his memory, leaving him with fragmented flashbacks from his military service. His quest to uncover the truth about his past leads him into conflict with an AI-powered military force determined to thwart his investigation.
MindsEye has been in development for several years. Following his departure from Rockstar Games, Benzies established Build a Rocket Boy, his new studio, and collaborated with IO Interactive, the creators of Hitman, on this project. Described as a AAA action-adventure game, MindsEye will also integrate with the "Everywhere" platform, a project previously likened to a "big-budget Roblox" following a studio visit in 2024.
While the new trailer omits mention of Everywhere, MindsEye itself promises an exhilarating action experience from a leading figure in the gaming industry. MindsEye is slated for release sometime in Summer 2025.
