Rogue Loops: A Hades-Inspired Roguelike Dungeon Crawler
The upcoming indie roguelike, Rogue Loops, draws significant inspiration from Hades, particularly in its art style and core gameplay loop. However, it introduces a unique twist on the established roguelike formula. While a precise release date remains unannounced, a Steam demo offers a sneak peek at the action, and a full PC release is anticipated in early 2025.
The game features a recurring dungeon with randomized loot and ability upgrades, viewed from a top-down perspective. This echoes the structure of Hades, but Rogue Loops distinguishes itself with a compelling mechanic: ability upgrades are paired with distinct downsides. These downsides, akin to Hades' Chaos Gates but potentially more impactful and persistent, significantly alter gameplay and strategic choices.
Rogue Loops' narrative centers on a family trapped in a deadly time loop. Players navigate five distinct dungeon floors, battling unique enemies and bosses. Each playthrough unlocks procedurally generated upgrades, allowing for diverse character builds through a system of buffs and debuffs.
Currently, Rogue Loops is slated for a Q1 2025 Steam release. Until then, a free demo (accessible on Steam) allows players to explore the first floor. Fans eager for more roguelike action can explore similar titles like Dead Cells and Hades 2 in the interim.
