Mastering Mounts in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: A Guide to Acquiring Your Steed
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's expansive open world can feel daunting initially. Efficient traversal is key, and that means acquiring a horse. This guide outlines two methods: reclaiming your original horse, Pebbles, or stealing a new one.
Reclaiming Pebbles
You can retrieve your starting horse, Pebbles, from the horse trader in Semine (south of the map). However, securing her return requires negotiation. You can either pay the trader Groschen, or attempt to persuade or intimidate him. In some playthroughs, wearing finer clothing (obtained, for example, through progressing the main questline and collaborating with Radovan) might allow you to convince the trader to relinquish Pebbles without payment, although this might slightly impact your reputation in Semine.
Stealing a Horse
Alternatively, you can acquire a horse through less conventional means. While wild horses are rare, farms and stables offer opportunities. This method involves theft and the risk of being caught.
A relatively safe option is Vidlak Pond (west of the map). A nearby farmhouse, belonging to fishermen, usually houses two horses. Simply mount one and ride away.
To properly saddle and tame your stolen steed, visit the horse trainer at the Nomads' Camp (east of Vidlak Pond). Remember, you'll need to pay the trainer for their services. Alternatively, you can ride the horse unsaddled.
