Star Wars enthusiasts have reason to celebrate: Lucasfilm has revived its ambitious galactic mapping initiative, unveiling an incredibly detailed chart featuring over 500 planets from the legendary sci-fi universe.
Have you ever questioned the distance between Tatooine and Hoth? Pondered how secluded Yoda truly was in Dagobah's murky swamps? Or wondered about Jakku's actual proximity to the galactic core? The answers are now at your fingertips.
The updated map reveals more of the galaxy's enigmatic Unknown Regions – including Exegol, the Sith stronghold from The Rise of Skywalker. Remember Rey's challenging quest involving an ancient dagger and Death Star wreckage? This map could have simplified her journey considerably.
Interestingly, Exegol isn't the most remote world depicted, despite its reputation for inaccessibility (and the eventual large-scale arrivals shown in the film). The Unknown Regions also feature Csilla, the icy homeworld of the mysterious Chiss species, famously represented by Grand Admiral Thrawn.
The comprehensive map does exclude some notable locations existing beyond the primary galaxy's boundaries, including cloning hub Kamino and Ahsoka's distant Peridea destination.
Lucasfilm promises ongoing updates to this galactic atlas, with plans for more focused regional maps covering areas like the Inner Rim, Colonies, and Core systems.

Meanwhile, the Star Wars franchise continues expanding with Ahsoka's upcoming second season, The Mandalorian & Grogu's theatrical debut, and Ryan Gosling's anticipated appearance in 2027's Star Wars: Starfighter.
