Marvel Contest of Champions: A Deep Dive into Champion Cards

Beyond the popular mobile game, Marvel Contest of Champions (MCoC) boasts an arcade version at Dave & Buster's, offering a unique, two-player 3v3 battle experience. The real draw? After each match, both players receive a physical Champion Card featuring a Marvel hero or villain.

These aren't just collectibles; they're also in-game assets. Scan a card to select your champion, adding a strategic layer to the arcade gameplay. With over 175 cards across two series (standard and foil variants), collecting these cards is a significant part of the arcade experience.

Understanding Champion Cards

MCoC Champion Cards are dispensed from the MCoC arcade machines at Dave & Buster's. Each card represents a character from the game, allowing players to choose their champions instead of relying on random selection. The absence of a scanned card results in a random champion assignment.

Each card showcases a specific MCoC character and has a rarer foil variant. Series 1 launched with 75 unique champions, while Series 2 added another 100, including reskins of Series 1 characters.

Winning or losing doesn't impact the card received; every player gets a card after each match. The cards are drawn from the existing two series.

While not mandatory for arcade play, Champion Cards enhance the experience, offering customization and strategic depth. Note that these cards are not transferable to the mobile MCoC game.

Rarity and Collectibility

Like traditional trading cards, MCoC Champion Cards are highly collectible. While in-game functionality remains consistent across all cards, the pursuit of complete sets, including rare foil versions, drives many collectors. The introduction of Series 2 added new designs and reskins, leading to multiple versions of some characters.

  • Series 1 (2019): 75 cards featuring classic MCoC characters.
  • Series 2 (later release): 100 cards, including reskins and new characters.
  • Foil Variants: Rarer, more valuable versions of standard cards.

Collectors pursue complete sets, specific characters, or solely foil cards. Their exclusive availability at Dave & Buster's enhances their appeal.

For digital roster building, consider playing MCoC on PC with BlueStacks for enhanced control and gameplay.

Acquiring Champion Cards

Currently, these cards are exclusively available at Dave & Buster's locations with the MCoC arcade cabinet. They cannot be purchased in-game or earned through the mobile app.

To build your collection:

  • Frequent Arcade Play: Maximize your chances of acquiring new cards.
  • Trading: Connect with other players to exchange cards.
  • Online Marketplaces: Explore online platforms where collectors sell extra cards.

Stay updated on Dave & Buster's arcade announcements for potential future series releases.

MCoC Champion Cards inject a physical, collectible element into the arcade experience. Whether for in-game use or collecting, these cards offer a unique extension of the MCoC universe beyond the mobile app. Explore our other MCoC guides for tier lists and beginner tips, and enjoy the enhanced gameplay of MCoC on PC with BlueStacks!
