The hit hero shooter Marvel Rivals continues to dominate on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC, though Nintendo Switch owners currently miss out. NetEase Games has confirmed no plans for Switch compatibility - but could the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 change that?
During last week's DICE Summit in Las Vegas, Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu shared promising news for Switch enthusiasts. When asked about Switch 2 possibilities, Wu revealed active discussions with Nintendo.
"We're currently collaborating with Nintendo and testing development kits," Wu explained. "Our main priority is delivering optimal performance. The original Switch couldn't meet our gameplay requirements, but we're optimistic about Switch 2's potential. If it delivers the necessary capabilities, we'd absolutely support the platform."
Nintendo officially unveiled Switch 2 last month, though specifications remain limited. Early reports suggest significant hardware upgrades including enhanced controller functionality that could benefit shooter gameplay. The console's potential mouse-like precision might bridge the gap between traditional controller and PC shooter experiences.
While Nintendo hasn't announced Switch 2's launch date, fans anticipate more details during the April 2 Nintendo Direct. Meanwhile, Marvel Rivals earns critical acclaim (8/10 in our review) for its fresh take on the hero shooter genre. The game welcomes The Human Torch and The Thing as playable characters starting February 21.
