Marvel Rivals: Mid-Season Rank Reset for Season 1?

by Samuel Apr 10,2025

The anticipation for the next big update in *Marvel Rivals* is palpable, especially with the looming question of a rank reset in Season 1. In most live-service games, a rank reset at the start of each season is the norm, offering players a fresh start to adapt to new changes and climb the ranks again. *Marvel Rivals*, however, tends to shake things up, and the latest developments are no exception.

NetEase Games initially announced that a rank reset would accompany the mid-season update on February 21, 2025, aligning with the introduction of new heroes, The Thing and Human Torch, which could significantly impact the game's meta. Yet, the community's reaction was swift and overwhelmingly negative, leading to a swift change in plans.

In response to the feedback, NetEase released a statement: "After the release of Dev Talk 10 regarding the seasonal rank adjustment, we received a wealth of feedback from the community. A common concern was the pressure associated with having a rank reset every half-season, which has made participating in competitive mode less enjoyable. In light of the community’s input, we have decided to make some changes to optimize the rank system."

The revised plan is clear: "When the second half of the season begins, there will be no rank reset. Players will retain their ranks and scores from the end of the first half. To earn new rewards, players simply need to complete 10 matches in Competitive mode and meet the relevant conditions by the end of the season. Rewards will include a new Gold rank costume and a variety of Crests of Honor, featuring distinct designs for Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All."

This decision is a boon for those in the top ranks, extending their time to compete at the highest levels. It's also a testament to NetEase's commitment to listening to player feedback, demonstrating a flexible approach to game development that's responsive to the community's needs.

Beyond the rank reset, the mid-season update for *Marvel Rivals* Season 1 promises significant changes, including the addition of The Thing and Human Torch. While specific details on character buffs and nerfs are yet to be disclosed, the community is eager to see how these updates will reshape the game's dynamics.

*Marvel Rivals* is currently available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S, continuing to evolve with player feedback at the forefront of its development strategy.
