Mattel Unveils Color-Inclusive "Beyond Colors" App Update

Mattel163 is boosting inclusivity with a game-changing update to enhance accessibility in its popular card games. The "Beyond Colors" feature introduces colorblind-friendly decks to UNO! Mobile, Phase 10: World Tour, and Skip-Bo Mobile.

What is Beyond Colors?

This innovative update directly benefits the approximately 300 million individuals globally affected by color blindness. Traditional card colors are replaced with easily distinguishable shapes—squares, triangles, etc.—ensuring clear card differentiation for all players.

Activating Beyond Colors:

Enabling Beyond Colors is simple. In Phase 10: World Tour, Skip-Bo Mobile, and UNO! Mobile, access your in-game avatar, go to account settings, and select the Beyond Colors deck under card theme options.

Mattel163 collaborated with colorblind gamers to ensure the new symbols are both effective and user-friendly. This initiative reflects Mattel's broader commitment to accessibility, aiming for 80% colorblind accessibility across its games by 2025.

The development involved experts in color vision deficiency and the gaming community, exploring solutions like patterns, tactile cues, and symbols to ensure color isn't the sole method of card identification. The shapes used are consistent across all three games, making the transition seamless between titles.

Download and experience these enhanced games now on the Google Play Store: UNO! Mobile, Phase 10: World Tour, and Skip-Bo Mobile.
