Metal Slug: Awakening, developed by HaoPlay Limited, breathes new life into the beloved run-and-gun franchise. Initially revealed in 2020 by TiMi Studios as Metal Slug Code: J, the game has undergone development and name changes before its Southeast Asian release in late 2023. Now, it's finally ready for a worldwide launch.
For the uninitiated, Metal Slug, originally created by Nazca Corporation in 1996, is a celebrated Japanese run-and-gun series that has expanded into a multimedia phenomenon. While previous mobile entries like Metal Slug Defense (2014), Metal Slug Attack (2016), and Metal Slug Commander (2020) exist, Awakening promises a significant upgrade.
