Developed by BOM (Birmingham Open Media), a UK-based arts organization, this game features a unique collaborative design process. Eleven to eighteen-year-old girls from Powered by CAN, a youth project, significantly contributed to the game's art style and mechanics.
What Sets Mother Nature: EcoDash Apart?
Players embody Mother Nature, a Black female scientist, tasked with purifying the city and rescuing animals from Smog, the villainous polluter. Gameplay involves outrunning pollution, collecting air purifiers, and managing a smog meter to avoid being engulfed by toxic clouds. Beyond the core running and jumping mechanics, the game incorporates rescue missions. Players encounter endangered animals throughout the city and must guide them to safety in the rainforest.
BOM's objective was to present complex issues like climate change and air pollution in a fun and accessible manner. The game is enhanced by various power-ups, shields, and bonus items.
