Netflix Games Scraps Six Upcoming Indie Games From Their Roster Including Don’t Starve Together

Netflix recently made significant changes to its gaming lineup, removing six previously announced mobile games. This strategic shift impacts titles like Don't Starve Together, Tales of the Shire, Compass Point: West, Lab Rat, Rotwood, and Thirsty Suitors. These cancellations follow a pattern; Crashlands 2 faced a similar fate after beta testing.

This move reflects Netflix's evolving gaming strategy. The company appears to be prioritizing narrative-driven games and titles based on its own popular shows and movies, shifting away from a focus on independent titles. This is evident in the upcoming additions to Netflix Stories, featuring adaptations of Ginny & Georgia and Sweet Magnolias.

While disappointing for those anticipating these titles on Netflix Games, most remain in development for other platforms. Don't Starve Together, initially slated for a Netflix mobile release, will launch on mobile via Playdigious. Rotwood continues its early access run on Steam. Tales of the Shire has been delayed until early 2025. The removal of Compass Point: West, a Next Games title (a Netflix subsidiary), is particularly noteworthy. Finally, Thirsty Suitors will be released on Steam and consoles, but not through Netflix's mobile platform.

The absence of the Netflix Games logo from its website further confirms these cancellations. For a complete view of Netflix's current mobile gaming offerings, check the Google Play Store. For further Netflix news, see our coverage on the additions to Netflix Stories.
