Weapon damage in NieR: Automata varies with each swing. Upgrades reduce damage variance and boost potential damage.

The Iron Pipe boasts the game's widest damage range but also possesses exceptionally high potential damage. Its effectiveness is unpredictable, but it's a worthwhile weapon to acquire. Here's how:

How To Obtain the Iron Pipe in NieR: Automata

The Iron Pipe is a rare fishing reward found in sewers. Both sewers offer equal drop rates; the one near the Resistance Camp is most easily accessed. Fast travel to the Resistance Camp, then head right towards the Amusement Park. After crossing a small gap, you'll find an open manhole beneath a highway.

Descend into the sewer, stand in the water, and begin fishing. Other junk items, sellable for money, may also be caught. There's no guaranteed method to increase the drop rate; it can take minutes or only a few casts. Use your Pod's light to improve visibility in the dark sewer.

Another sewer is accessible en route to the Flooded City.

The Iron Pipe maintains a wide damage range regardless of upgrade level. However, successful hits can yield some of the game's highest damage output, and it's obtainable early in the game. Upgrade requirements and resulting stats are:
