Sony Has Good News and Bad News on PlayStation 5 Themes

by Christian Feb 20,2025

Sony's popular PlayStation console themes for PS5 are disappearing! The limited-time PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4 themes are leaving the PlayStation Store on January 31, 2025. However, there's a silver lining: Sony has confirmed their return in the coming months, promising to bring back these nostalgic designs.

In a recent tweet, Sony expressed gratitude for the overwhelming positive response to the themes. They stated that due to this success, they are working to re-release these special designs.

Unfortunately, Sony also announced that there are currently no plans to create additional console themes beyond these four. This news has been met with some disappointment from fans, as PS5 theme customization has been a noticeably absent feature compared to previous PlayStation consoles.

The temporary themes, released to celebrate PlayStation's 30th anniversary on December 3, 2024, allowed PS5 users to customize their home screens and menus with iconic visuals and sounds from the PSOne, PS2, PS3, and PS4. Each theme recreated the distinct aesthetic and audio of its respective console generation.
