Embark on the "For Science!" Side Quest in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl

Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl offers players numerous encounters with NPCs within The Zone, often leading to captivating side quests. One such quest, "For Science!", unfolds after meeting Yaryk Mongoose, who tasks the player (Skif) with activating a second measuring device atop a silo. This relatively brief quest yields a Malachite pass, granting access to the STC Malachite facility.

Initiating the "For Science!" Quest

The quest begins at the Central Elevator in the Chemical Plant. Upon approaching, Mongoose will contact Skif via radio, prompting a meeting. Inside the Central Elevator, navigate left past conveyor belts, ascend the rusted stairs, and vault the railing to reach Mongoose on the first floor. He'll explain the need to activate a second device and initiate the quest upon acceptance.

Reaching the Silo's Summit

Exit the room and climb to the building's roof. Eliminate any rodents encountered. Climb out a broken window and descend the external ladder to the silo walkways. Equip a bolt-action weapon to counter electro anomalies. Proceed left along the silo's top to activate the device. Activating the device will attract Bloodsuckers. Choose to fight or evade them to reach Mongoose.

Confronting Yaryk Mongoose

Upon reaching Mongoose, he'll explain the experiment's unforeseen consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose for endangering Skif or accept the reward peacefully. Neither choice significantly impacts the game's progression. Choosing the peaceful option rewards the Malachite Pass and coupons. The pass unlocks the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible through main missions.
