Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Reveals Another New Character

Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Adds Playable Jar Jar Binks and More!

Aspyr has unveiled a surprising playable character for the upcoming re-release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles on modern consoles: Jar Jar Binks! A new trailer shows the Gungan in action, wielding a large staff. This isn't the only new addition; Aspyr has revealed nine other new playable characters, with more to come.

The 2000 original Jedi Power Battles featured characters and locations from Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace. This updated version aims to recapture that nostalgia while adding new content. Alongside features like customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support, a roster expansion is a key highlight. Jar Jar Binks is the latest character to join this expanded lineup.

A recent trailer showcased Jar Jar's gameplay, showing him battling enemies with his staff. While some fans may have envisioned a "Darth Jar Jar" scenario, the character's gameplay remains true to his comical nature, complete with signature voice lines. Jar Jar Binks will be playable when Jedi Power Battles launches on January 23rd; pre-orders are currently available.

Newly Revealed Playable Characters:

  • Jar Jar Binks
  • Rodian
  • Flame Droid
  • Gungan Guard
  • Destroyer Droid
  • Ishi Tib
  • Rifle Droid
  • Staff Tusken Raider
  • Weequay
  • Mercenary

Aspyr's update includes a significant number of new playable characters beyond Jar Jar Binks. The nine already announced characters offer variety, including familiar faces like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, and various droid types such as the Flame Droid, Destroyer Droid, and Rifle Droid. The Gungan Guard also joins the roster alongside Jar Jar.

With the release date just weeks away, fans can soon experience these additions firsthand. Aspyr's past work on titles like Star Wars: Bounty Hunter should inform their approach to this re-release, hopefully delivering the updated experience fans desire.
