Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Receives Final Major Update, Ending Live-Service Support

Rocksteady Studios has released the final major content update, Season 4 Episode 8: Balance, for its live-service title, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. This marks the end of development for the game, announced on December 9th, 2024, less than a year after its release in February. The update is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Despite initial high expectations, the game's reception was largely negative, primarily due to its unexpected live-service elements. This ultimately led to the decision to cease further content development after only 10 months. However, Rocksteady assures players that all online features will remain active, allowing continued cooperative gameplay.

Season 4 Episode 8 introduces significant new content, including:

  • Libra Infamy Set: A high-risk, high-reward set inspired by the DC Super-Villain Libra, manipulating enemy damage output.
  • Notorious Weapons: Powerful new weapons, such as The Silencer’s Complete Silence (with a devastating Alt-Fire), Doctor Sivana’s Magic Bullets (piercing and electrifying enemies), and Chronos’ Equilibrium (bonus damage scaling with missing shield).
  • New Mayhem Mission: The final confrontation against Brainiac, taking place in a new medieval Elseworld location, "The Quarry". This new area also features an arena for combat.
  • Gameplay Improvements: Reduced XP requirements for Squad Levels (with retroactive rewards), and adjustments to Deathstroke's Suicide Strike duration.
  • Extensive Bug Fixes: A large number of bugs have been addressed, impacting gameplay, resources, leaderboards, abilities, and various visual and audio elements.

While online features will persist, a December update (Episode 7) introduced offline play, allowing access to the main campaign and seasonal missions even without an internet connection. This ensures players can continue to enjoy the game's content even if the servers are eventually shut down.

For those yet to experience the game, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is currently available on PlayStation Plus until February 3rd, alongside The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered.
