2024 Amazon Sales Crowned Meta Quest 3S as Top-Selling Console
The Meta Quest 3S unexpectedly outperformed established gaming giants like Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, securing the title of Amazon's best-selling console in 2024. This remarkable achievement is even more impressive considering its October launch.
This budget-friendly VR headset, a lower-specced variant of the Meta Quest 3, proved highly attractive to consumers. While VR gaming remains niche, the Quest 3S's accessible price and diverse game library propelled its Amazon sales to the top spot.
Amazon's 2024 best-seller list reveals the Meta Quest 3S's dominance in the video game category, ranking #11 overall. This is particularly noteworthy given the list's dominance by gift cards and Xbox Game Pass subscriptions. The PlayStation 5 Slim (#17) and Nintendo Switch (#53) trailed significantly. Xbox consoles were absent from the top 80, although peripherals did feature. The PlayStation 5 Pro was also notably absent. Only a Nintendo microSDXC card (#8) and the PlayStation DualSense controller (#9) outsold the Quest 3S.
Meta Quest 3S: Democratizing VR Access
Sony's PlayStation VR2, conversely, failed to make the Amazon list. The Quest 3S's standalone nature – requiring no external console or PC – likely contributed significantly to its appeal.
