Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks has launched a redesigned website and confirmed it is working on an unannounced action game.
The new site, featuring updated branding and a careers page recruiting for the secret project, states Tango Gameworks' core mission is to "create new games and expand intellectual properties." It operates as an independent studio in Tokyo, Japan, under the Krafton umbrella.
In May 2024, Microsoft announced the closure of several Bethesda studios, including Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin, the developer behind Redfall. This decision sparked widespread shock and disappointment among developers and fans. The move was particularly surprising given that Microsoft executive Aaron Greenberg had previously praised Hi-Fi Rush as a "breakout hit for Xbox and our players across all key metrics."
In August 2024, PUBG publisher Krafton acquired Tango Gameworks and the Hi-Fi Rush IP from Microsoft, rescuing the studio from closure. Krafton announced the deal in a press release, confirming that "as part of this strategic agreement, Krafton intends to collaborate with Xbox and ZeniMax to ensure a smooth transition and maintain continuity at Tango Gameworks. This allows the talented team to continue developing the Hi-Fi Rush IP and explore future projects."
"After months of anticipation, Tango Gameworks is back in a brand-new form," declares the studio's new website. "We've launched this site to offer our fans and potential team members a glimpse into our studio. Here, you can learn about our philosophy and watch featurettes from our team members."
"Since joining Krafton, Tango Gameworks begins a new chapter, developing titles that will resonate with players globally," the company added. "We remain committed to creating and growing distinctive new IPs, embracing challenges to become a unique voice in the gaming industry."
Tango further stated that its vision is "centered on operating like a creative workshop, crafting games and experiences that emphasize the 'hand-made' quality we pour into our work."
As for what this new game might be, details remain scarce. A news post published earlier today states Tango "isn't ready to reveal much yet," but "has several positions open for early development on an unannounced action game."
"The open roles span nearly every department. If you're interested in joining the team behind hits like Hi-Fi Rush, please read about our studio philosophy." According to a machine translation of the senior-level designer job listing, Tango seeks candidates with "experience developing 3D action games" in Unreal Engine 5. The cutscene manager position similarly requires 3D action game experience but offers no further clues for now. Could this be Hi-Fi Rush 2?
