Conquering Thorncrown Rises: A Comprehensive Guide to the Shadow of the Past Quest in Wuthering Waves

This guide details the Shadow of the Past quest in Wuthering Waves, focusing on locating and completing each of the three towers within Thorncrown Rises.

Quick Links

Begin your journey by speaking with Botim, situated south of the Rinascita-Ragunna-Thessaleo Fells northern Resonance Beacon. He'll explain the situation: shadowy monsters plague three ancestral towers, and he offers rewards for their subjugation. This initiates the Shadow of the Past quest.

Thorncrown Rises Tower Locations

Three towers comprise this quest, each representing a sub-quest:

  • Shadow of the Towers: Resounding Rise: Located northeast of Thorncrown Rises.
  • Shadow of the Towers: Twilight Rise: Situated south of Thorncrown Rises.
  • Shadow of the Towers: Command Rise: Found southwest of Thorncrown Rises.

Shadow of the Towers: Resounding Rise

This sub-quest begins by interacting with Itzel, positioned east of the Resounding Rise Tower. The tower's exploration involves:

  1. Entering a painting at the hallway's end.
  2. Tracking and defeating an Abyssal Mercator.
  3. Collecting supply chests in the northern, western, and eastern rooms.
  4. Navigating a second painting encounter with an Abyssal Mercator.
  5. Further pursuit and defeat of an Abyssal Mercator.
  6. Following another painting to a final encounter and chest.
  7. Defeating a blocking enemy.
  8. Correctly arranging paintings (top-left to bottom-right, painting behind top-left to bottom-left, top-right to top-left, and painting behind bottom-right to top-right).
  9. Claiming a Premium Supply chest.
  10. A final Abyssal Mercator encounter.
  11. Claiming a Tidal Supply chest from Itzel.

Completing this weakens a barrier at the Command Rise Tower.

Shadow of the Towers: Twilight Rise

Proceed southeast to the Twilight Rise Tower and speak with Insula to enter. The quest involves:

  1. Following the quest marker until a time loop is revealed.
  2. Investigating three marked spots.
  3. Speaking with Insula.
  4. Entering a secret passage under the elevator.
  5. Defeating an Abyssal Patricius.
  6. Collecting a supply chest and pursuing the Abyssal Patricius further.
  7. A final Abyssal Patricius encounter.
  8. A final conversation with Insula.
  9. Collecting a Tidal Supply chest.

This weakens the second Command Rise Tower barrier.

Shadow of the Towers: Command Rise

This sub-quest automatically begins after completing the first two. The steps involve:

  1. Speaking with Insula and Itzel at the camp northeast of the Command Rise Tower.
  2. Using a Wingray to fly to the Command Rise Tower.
  3. Entering the tower and following quest markers.
  4. Collecting supply chests along the way.
  5. Using a grapple to ascend.
  6. Defeating an Abyssal Patricius.
  7. Further grappling and exploration, collecting more chests and Sonance Caskets: Ragunna.
  8. Utilizing chandelier mechanics to reach the tower's peak.
  9. Interacting with Insula and Itzel after discovering Liel's demise.
  10. Using a portal to confront and defeat the final Abyssal Patricius.
  11. Claiming rewards, including the Call of the Abyss Rectifier and a Premium Supply chest.

Exiting via the portal and speaking with Insula and Itzel awards the King of Thessaleo and Shadow of the Tower achievements.
