Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Announced
Microsoft has unveiled the date for its next Xbox Developer Direct: January 23rd, 2025. This marks the third annual installment of the showcase event, kicking off the year's Xbox game announcements. The event will stream live on YouTube and Twitch at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT. This follows previous iterations in January 2023 and 2024, and confirms earlier rumors of a January 2025 announcement.
Confirmed Games:
The showcase will feature in-depth looks at three highly anticipated titles:
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive, slated for a 2025 release and confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.
- Doom: The Dark Ages: The latest entry in the iconic Doom franchise from id Software. A demo was playable at QuakeCon 2024, and a mid-2025 release is rumored.
- South of Midnight: A stylish action-adventure game from Compulsion Games (Contrast, We Happy Few), initially announced in June 2023. A release date is expected.
More Than Just Three Games?
While these three titles are confirmed, past Developer Directs have exceeded 40 minutes and showcased multiple games. The 2024 event featured Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and Visions of Mana. It's highly likely that the 2025 event will hold further unannounced surprises.
