
Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley hasn't ruled out the possibility of an Evil Genius 3, though he isn't ready to make any official announcements just yet. The series remains very dear to him, and he is currently thinking about how to elevate it to new heights.
Kingsley noted that the theme of world domination could be explored not just through a base-building simulator, but also through other strategic game formats. While concrete projects are still being discussed, the developers are actively brainstorming fresh ideas for the franchise's future.
Evil Genius 2, which launched in 2021, earned "mostly positive" reviews from critics on Metacritic. However, when the sequel reached a wider audience of players, it faced significant criticism. Despite updated visuals and efforts to fix issues from the past, the sequel didn't live up to the original in several key areas. Players pointed out problems with the global map, the diminished utility of minions and various structures, among other shortcomings.
