Hazelight's beloved cooperative adventure, Split Fiction, has achieved an impressive sales milestone of nearly four million copies sold. This news was confirmed by publisher EA in their recent financial report, highlighting the game as a "hugely successful launch" and crediting it as a key factor in EA's robust financial performance at the close of the 2025 fiscal year.
"4 MILLION SOLD!!!!" Hazelight joyously declared on social media in response to the announcement. "It's incredible to see so many of you enjoying Split Fiction. The fun you've had with our characters Mio and Zoe, and the love you've shown for each other, truly warms our hearts here at Hazelight. And let's not forget the countless hot dogs made along the way!"
Split Fiction immerses players in the diverse universes created by two fictional writers, offering a groundbreaking co-op experience where only one player needs to own the game. Launched in March, the game quickly became another triumph for Hazelight and its visionary designer, Josef Fares, selling over 2 million copies within just one week. It is also slated to be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2 as Hazelight continues to develop its next project.
In addition to its gaming success, a film adaptation of Split Fiction is in development. Story Kitchen, renowned for their work on the Sonic films, is currently gathering a team of writers, a director, and a cast that includes Sydney Sweeney.
In our IGN Split Fiction review, we praised the game as "an expertly crafted and absorbing co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another." We noted that it "offers a rollercoaster of gameplay ideas and styles, which are introduced and discarded rapidly, keeping the experience wonderfully fresh throughout its full, 14-hour duration."
