Infinity Nikki Snapped Up Devs from BotW and The Witcher 3

Infinity Nikki's upcoming PC and PlayStation release is generating considerable buzz, fueled by a recently released behind-the-scenes documentary. The documentary highlights the game's development journey and the impressive talent behind it. Let's delve into the making of this fashion-focused open-world adventure.

A Glimpse into Miraland

Launching December 4th (EST/PST), Infinity Nikki's 25-minute documentary showcases the dedication and passion poured into the game over several years. Interviews with key team members provide insightful perspectives.

The project began in December 2019 when the Nikki series producer envisioned an open-world game featuring Nikki on exciting adventures. Maintaining secrecy, the team initially worked in a separate office. Over a year was spent recruiting, brainstorming, and establishing the foundational infrastructure.

Game designer Sha Dingyu emphasized the unprecedented challenge of integrating the established Nikki dress-up mechanics into an open-world setting. This required building a framework from scratch, a process that involved years of research and development.

Despite the hurdles, the team remained committed to realizing their vision. The Nikki franchise, originating with NikkuUp2U in 2012, is now on its fifth iteration. Infinity Nikki marks a significant leap, representing the first PC and console release alongside mobile. The team prioritized technological advancement and a product upgrade, pushing the boundaries of the Nikki IP. Their dedication is exemplified by the producer's clay model of the Grand Millewish Tree, a testament to the passion driving the project.

The documentary offers glimpses of Miraland's stunning landscapes, focusing on the mystical Grand Millewish Tree, home to the Faewish Sprites, and its vibrant surroundings. The lively NPCs, with their independent routines, contribute to a dynamic and immersive world, a design highlight shared by game designer Xiao Li.

A Team of Industry Veterans

The game's polished visuals and high production value are a direct result of the team's expertise. In addition to the core Nikki team, Infinity Nikki boasts international talent. Kentaro "Tomiken" Tominaga, Lead Sub Director, brings his experience from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Concept artist Andrzej Dybowski, known for his work on The Witcher 3, also contributes his artistic skills.

From the official start of development on December 28th, 2019, to the December 4th, 2024 launch, the team dedicated 1814 days to bringing Infinity Nikki to life. Anticipation is high for this journey through Miraland with Nikki and Momo.
