Ubisoft has unveiled new details about the combat and progression mechanics in Assassin's Creed Shadows. Game director Charles Benoit discussed character growth, loot systems, and diverse weapon options.
The game introduces two core progression components: mastery points and knowledge points. Mastery points are gained through leveling up or defeating formidable foes, while knowledge points are earned by completing missions and finding items. These points unlock new skills and enable weapon upgrades.
Each weapon features its own upgrade path, allowing players to craft unique builds. Progress can be reset at any time to explore different tactics and weapon choices. Notably, weapons come with distinct bonuses tailored to specific scenarios. For instance, legendary weapons like the naginata allow players to counter otherwise unblockable attacks that other weapons cannot handle.
The combat system in Assassin's Creed Shadows supports stealth-based eliminations but encourages varied fighting styles. As characters evolve, additional stat enhancements become available, enabling deeper skill refinement. Developers emphasize that mastering all techniques and upgrades demands substantial time and effort.
Assassin's Creed Shadows launches on March 20 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, promising an immersive blend of stealth, combat, and strategic growth.
